Carpet shops in Gillingham, and the warehouse that undercuts them.

Carpet shops in Gillingham, and why this one sits on a business park

Unit 9, Matilda Close is on Gillingham Business Park rather than the high street, and that is deliberate. A unit with racking costs far less to run than a shop front on a parade, which is exactly why the prices on the labels are warehouse-only prices. The trade off is that you come to a unit, not a showroom, and you get the carpet at the price the showroom would have paid for it.

It serves the whole of Medway comfortably. Gillingham, Rainham, Chatham, Rochester and Strood are all short runs, and the unit is set up for people who turn up in a van as much as people who turn up in a hatchback. Open to both public and trade, with trade accounts available for installers, builders and property developers, including discounts and bulk-buy pricing.

Medway housing pushes what sells here. There is a lot of rental stock across ME7 and ME8, so hard wearing budget twists, roll ends and offcuts move fastest, often several rooms at a time for one property. Alongside that sits the family end of the market, where stain resistant and bleach cleanable ranges get picked for kitchens, halls and homes with dogs.
