Clearance and ex-display stock
Discontinued does not mean inferior. It means the range has moved on and the price has come down with it.
Carpet ranges get refreshed constantly. A manufacturer changes a colour palette, a national retailer drops a range from its books, a shade stops selling in the north but sells perfectly well in Kent. When that happens the stock has to go somewhere, and buying those deals direct from suppliers is a large part of what we do.
It is the reason a heavy domestic carpet can sit on our floor at a price that looks like budget carpet elsewhere. Nothing is wrong with it. It is simply no longer in the current brochure.

How clearance stock behaves
It is the opposite of a catalogue. There is no reorder, no matching batch next year and no promise it will still be here on Saturday, so the buying approach has to be different.
Buy the whole job at once
If you love it, take enough for every room now. Coming back in six weeks for two more metres rarely ends well.
Check both warehouses
Maidstone and Gillingham get different deals. If a colour is gone at one site, the other is worth a call.
Ask what has just landed
The best clearance is often still being racked. The team knows what came off the lorry this week.
Keep a spare offcut
With a discontinued line, the offcut in your loft is the only future repair you will get.
Ex-display and sampled stock
Display pieces have been walked on in a warehouse rather than a home, and sampled stock has had squares taken from it. Both are sold off cheaply and both are perfectly good once trimmed. Ask to see the whole piece under the lights before you decide, which is something a sample book never lets you do.
Why this beats a sale in a showroom
A showroom sale discounts a price that had a showroom built into it. Our clearance is stock we already own outright, sitting in the same building you are standing in. That is a different kind of saving, and it is also why we can say we will beat any legitimate quote rather than run a sale for a fortnight.

Clearance and ex-display, your questions answered
- What does clearance actually mean at Kent Carpet Warehouse?
- Mostly discontinued ranges and supplier clearance deals that we buy direct and hold ourselves. The specification is unchanged, the range has simply been replaced in the manufacturer's current line-up.
- Is ex-display carpet damaged?
- No, it has been on show rather than in use. Display and sampled pieces are trimmed and sold at clearance prices, and you can inspect the full piece in the warehouse before buying.
- Can I reorder more of a clearance line later?
- Usually not, which is the one real drawback. Buy enough for the whole job in one go and keep an offcut for future repairs.
- Do both warehouses carry the same clearance stock?
- No. Maidstone on Wyke Manor Road and Gillingham on Gillingham Business Park receive different deals, so it is always worth asking about the other site.
- Is clearance stock covered by the price promise?
