Yes. Carpet sold from the roll is always cut to size: you choose the carpet, give the length you need, and it is cut across the full width of the roll. At both of our warehouses we cut while you wait, so you can take the piece home the same visit or have it delivered. The width is fixed by the roll, so the length you ask for is the only measurement that changes.

How cutting from the roll works

Broadloom carpet is made in rolls of a set width, typically 4m and in many ranges also 5m. When you ask for carpet cut to size, the roll is unwound on the cutting floor, measured to your length and cut straight across. What you take away is a rectangle the width of the roll and the length you asked for.

That is why carpet is priced per square metre but sold by length. The fitter then trims it to the exact shape of the room on the day.

What measurements to bring

Measure the room at its longest and widest points, including into door openings and bays. Add about 10cm at each edge for trimming. If the room is narrower than the roll width, you only need to give the length. If it is wider, the carpet will need a join or a wider roll, and it is worth talking through before anything is cut.

Cut to size versus remnants and roll ends

A remnant is a piece already cut from a roll, usually left over after a larger order. A roll end is the last few metres of a roll. Both are sold as they are, and if one happens to fit your room it is usually the cheapest way to carpet it. If nothing fits, a fresh cut from a full roll gives you the exact length you need.

Taking it home

A cut carpet is rolled for you to take away. A small bedroom length will fit in many estate cars with the seats down; a large piece may need a van or delivery. Most in-stock items are delivered within 1 to 3 working days across Kent if collection is not practical. Free parking at both sites makes loading straightforward.
